Advanced wire bonding standards for European automotive and power electronics industry

Abstract This article presents the wire bond standard DVS-2811, which is widely used in German-speaking and European countries. Introduced 1996, this now contains definitions limits for all currently bonding methods, including shear test on heavy/thick connections, missing other official standards. Especially considering growing number of users battery bonding, specification appropriate testing thick wires important significance. In addition to an overview current status, outlook given further updates that are due next 1–2 years.
